Default Clicking Clutch quadrant

Hey everyone,

Got a clicking clutch pedal on my Escort mk3 (1.1 1985) and its been this way for a bit now.

I was going to replace it with the same plastic part. is there a how to on this anywhere?
it looks tricky and i dont want to mess it up as its my main car. Looking at pictures i have no idea whats going to happen to the clutch cable when i take it off the quadrant? will it just stay there? or shoot off back into the fire wall? don't know if its under tension.

someone said its worth putting a mk6 pedal on and alloy quadrant. seems like over kill and expensive for a 1.1 though?

Also can you trust the colour coding of the plastic products? i've seen white and black ones on Ebay for the same car and it looks like they could be different sizes... maybe this varies on manufacture though?

Cheers
Chris
