I know Mark Shead said unless you use drive by wire you cannot have idle control when cold so you have to hold the revs up a little (that will remind me of my old 1.6 gti 205 as that would never idle....it taught me to heel and toe well though.)
Hm, why would it require DBW? I know Mark used a ISCV on Rods car in comination with the Jenvey inlet and a vacuum manifold. Did they use DBW on Rods car? I only see a normal wire configuration.

I wonder how to get a proper map-signal from such a vacuum manifold, as the ISCV will generate airflow which might distort the signal?
