Is there an issue using vacuum for brake servo when using the roller barrel?

I know Mark Shead said unless you use drive by wire you cannot have idle control when cold so you have to hold the revs up a little (that will remind me of my old 1.6 gti 205 as that would never idle....it taught me to heel and toe well though.)
