The pivot joint on the arm will have slight corrosion on it. Spray some wd40 etc on the joint and work the wiper arm away from the glass like when your replacing the blade and back to the glass again. Do this a few times to free it off and it will clear all the glass again. My old mk6.5 ST used to do it all the time.
