I've had fast driver training and was a quali'd AI. I know how to drive at high speed properly having spent years doing for a living what most get to do for a few hours a few weekends a year if they're lucky, and I know how to investigate it when it goes wrong.
Unless that was a suspension failure that caused the inner wheel to go light, it was driver error. Too much point and squirt.
To be fair to the chap though, that's a ridiculous piece of tarmac to be doing sprints on. I would have politely declined to be doing a sprint that required me to brake hard into a vast and changing camber like that.
