Didn't realise till I went to put the bumper on they go directly to the panel not the plastic cups which is even better
They are designed to make fitting as easy as possible and as you found you dont need the funny shaped black plastic bits either. Makes you wonder why Ford didnt do them as standard. No comparison is there?
