Been a long time since I've been on this forum, never posted much, but I have a new project I think is worthy of a build thread, and chances are some help and advice!

Had mostly ford's in the past, mostly Fiestas with the exception of a focus ST and a transit connect. With a few other manufacturers in the midst, most costing me lots of money! About 10 years ago I had a mk2 xr2 that I began restoring but ended up scrapping it due to lots of rust and low prices at the time . Then a couple of years later had a mk2 1.1 auto that was so clean I decided not to modify it and sell it on, helped by the fact I had nowhere to work on it.

Fast-forward to December last year and I perched my third mk2, now have a house with a garage so room to store and work on the car, and still have all the bits from the xr2 for some upgrades!

So I came across it on a Facebook Fiesta owners page and struck a deal. It's been dry stored for 16 years, I'm assuming off the road for most of that. The seller inherited it from his uncle a few years ago and decided it was time to get her on the road and for sale. He serviced the engine and braking system, replacing the rear brake cylinders, and put 2 new tyres on and put it through an MOT. It passed with one advisory of a small chip in the windscreen!

Being as it had MOT I thought rather than spend money on having it transported from near Canterbury to Colchester, for the same money I could insure it and drive it home! The seller had done around 60 miles on back roads and lanes to test the brakes so this seemed a good enough test for me to drive home. A mate drove me down there and after we had a chat and I handed some money over I set off for home, 60mph all the way home and she didn't skip a beat! Non stop about 2 hours driving. Temp gauge normal all the way. Has a few little niggles to deal with, a judder at low speeds and a hesitant idle but nothing too bad for the age.

The car itself is a 1.1 OHV with a 4 speed box, has a sunroof and glovebox. That's about as far as the spec goes. It's only covered 69,000 miles which I believe is genuine and it's only had 3 previous owners. It has the normal small dents and scratches around the car as to be expected but its a really honest little car, and the best part is there's almost no rust, only a small area on the bottom of one rear arch, making it a great Base for me to start my project!
