My girlfriend had a 306 diesel turbo for a time, the non ECU one so not the HDI. It was a simple case of getting a boost gauge £25, an 8mm allen key and a spanner. Turn the allen key in the fuel pump clockwise about 20mm and wind the bolt coming from the actuator on the turbo 4 turns inwards, This took me about 45 mins to do and got the car from just under 14psi to 20psi! Used to be able to light the wheels up in 2nd whilst getting about 45mpg, huge fun for a car that cost a couple of hundred quid.
I remember a few guys years ago with the old 306 td. Young lads and it was cheap insurance but they made some of them go really well. One lad put a big front mount intercooler on one and seemed to go very well
