I have had this 18 months and wanted this to be different, day 1 driving it home it overheated, garage diagnosed head gasket 2 days later at £900, found out it seems that they did not replace head gasket.
Now head gasket may be gone again, been topping up water about once a week, been doing this for about a year, however no oil/water mix, no smoke, no power loss, last year a chemical test changed colour indicating failed head gasket but over 12 months later no symptoms other than topping up water occasionally.
I would replace HG if it needs doing but turbo has some play ( no symptoms other than cannot feel/hear it and a mechanic says it has play) , clunking noise when bring clutch up e.t.c.
This car has had about £1700 spent on repairs in my ownership. to get it all right I'd probably be looking at another £1,000, I really do not know what to do.
My hands are sore/scratched from working on the car, I feel very tired and very stressed over it all.
I am sorry I ask to many question but I do really appreciate any help that you and anyone else here offers me, It really means a lot. I will try not asking too much but I just get carried away, lol
take care and thanks
edit: good advice about taking it to a garage for inspection and cost, what do you think they would charge for a inspection such as the one you mentioned ? )
I feel for u mate, I have a mate in exact same situation with pretty much the same car a 56 plate focus diesel. He's had it since just before xmas and the garage he bought it from have had it for ages trying to fix all the faults. He's managed to drive it 8 days since
Middle of December. He says now next week he's going to reject the car as it's on finance. He's going down to Nissan next week to get a new car on finance, £160 a month. Free servicing etc so no more worries for him. We charge £55 plus vat an hour at my work mate but charges can vary per hour depending where u go. Good luck mate
