what diagnostic equipment are you technicians out there using?

simple reason i ask is for years we used snap-on gear, had a lovely modis ultra which i got on really well with, found the component testing great and the scope useful as it made it quite all in one. well we had some very convincing salesmen in from another diagnostic company who convinced my gaffer than their kit was the dogs swingers, we then bought said kit and i hate it, doesn't do half of what they say, the hardware crashes every 5 minutes, it's just shit!

so i'm trying to look for alternatives that don't rely on paying over the odds for snap-on regardless of how much i like the interface on their kit. i know a lot of you guys are in the industry so what are you using and would you pay your own money for it?

we are fleet based, run mainly renault/vauxhall vans with a few ford and citroen thrown in there and everything is under 7 years old with the majority being around 4 years old.
