Did the Exige come from Bell and Colville? My friend test drove one of these recently with a friend of his who has a big collection and he only did not buy it due to the gearbox issues on track. I wonder if it would work with shock proof gear oil as well as the cooler?
Nope it came from a small dealer that normally trades in older mustangs and air-cooled porsches.
The weak point in the boxes seems to be 3rd and 4 th gears stripping , which has been replaced with uprated gears on this car. The boxes tend to run hot that then causes expansion of the alloy housing, this is only meant to be under hard track use but for the sake of a few hundred pounds to fit a cooler i think its a worth while mod.
