I bought myself a 1989 Bonus 3 door a couple of months ago with plans to do a similar conversion to what fitzpodge is planning (once I've sorted a few things out first on the car). Forged Zetec pistons. Would these be from a ST turbo? What sort of power can they handle? Or are there any other known-to-work pistons around?
In regards to the rods I have read for the 2.0 C20LET that the standard rods will do so long as the bolts are upgraded (and pin modified to suit the piston). How true this is I'm not sure.
Just get forged low comp pistons for your blacktop. Mine were for a mk1 focus rs.
It's a whole lot less messing about and by the time you've got everything and had the block machined/bored to take the vauxhall pistons you'll porbably break even.
Vauxhall pistons was the quick bodge back in the day as you could get second hand ones almost anywhere for next to nothing.
