I think it was typical of the age, l8 ecu and t34, running Ahmed chip and other people who knew Cossies didn't think it was anything different to their cars. The previous owner had it checked over by Mark Shead years ago. From what I have seen they are all pretty laggy compared to a modern setup. I am not talking galactic lag just obvious that it needed time to produce full boost. If you compare graphs you can see it plain enough.
Don't forget that i went from 3.6 diff to 3.9, then close ratio box too along with modern injectors, properly mapped vipec by Mark Shead with efr on twin scroll manifold, better intercooler and bigger exhaust all the way through with coil on plug and proper injectors. The car spec is night and day different and therefore drives like it too.
