I had a mk3 vr6 with the rotten wings but got a pair of new vento wings thrown in. Rather than change the whole front end I took the wings off the golf and chopped them under the moulding and then welded in the bottom of the vento wings. Painted them out of cans but the mixed up ones not off the shelf and got a brilliant finish. Guy I bought the car from couldn't belive it was the same original wings with a bit off a fettle

Painted bumpers and wheels etc since then and always come out really good but as you said it's all in the prep and it takes time to do it right but well worth the effort
Yeah next time I'm going to do it for myself so I can do all the prep how I want to and not be rushed and use proper mixed up paint. I'm basically practising because my Cossie desperately needs a full respray but I'll never ever have the thousands of pounds to have someone else paint it so I'm want to practice until I feel confident doing it myself. Next up I want to buy a mk6 escort van and paint that entirely to the colour that my Cossie will be.
