I think that fireproof tape will just stop the tape catching fire but would not protect the plug from the heat. Go to Demon Tweeks or Motorsport tools site and look at heat reflective products and wrap it in that. Also try and move - re route - re wire the plug away if possible, surely just needs a small extension?

You could consider heat wrapping the manifold or better still Zircotec coating (pricey)
