Buy new sliders. They are plated to help stop them corroding, I should imagine over time the plating has worn away. Copper slip will be fine. The backs of most new pads have an anti vibration coating so you shouldn't need to grease the backs of the pads, but make sure the bit of the caliper that the pad hooks into is really well cleaned up with a wire brush and given a smear of copper grease.
