Hope the post is in the right place, bin a while since ive bin on here (had to set up new account :-()

Basically, the fuel gauge on my 63 plate Ford Focus seems to be inaccurate. It falls to 3/4 of a tank after about 50 miles. When the petrol light comes on to say 50 miles left, i fill up and i am only able to put 40 litres in. This means there was stil 15 litres left, which should be more than 50 miles of fuel given its a 1.0. This doesn't happen with my father in law who has the same car

Anyone aware of any similar issues or what it could be? Car is booked to go into ford, but was hoping for some help first
