Too many years have gone by now to make the choice, a good 2wd will start at 10k plus maybe more and a good 4x4 not far off the same, I'd buy on condition and value, maybe find a rolling shell and build an engine for it etc that's what I did.
2wd sapph is by far the best cossie produced in my opinion.
