800kg and 300ish bhp sounds like itl do the job if you can get the tyres to hook up
With the 15s, id say you just want as wide as you can get under there really, but no matter how wide, itl be a damn sight better than normal road tyres!
If i remember right, DannyB off here (who works for Hauser Racing, the drag car people) had 225/40/17 BFG drags on his RWD saff cossie, and even tho he had a lot of power, he could launch at 7000rpm and the thing would still sometimes bog down it was so grippy
Tho he did have a really fancy drag suspension setup too, but still.

Car at Avon Park was a Burgundy GTE 16V on TBs, no idea what internal work was done.
Was running 15" rims but dunno what tyres, suspect track/drag ones as had different rims on the back.
Totally stripped out, not even any door cards, just a single bucket seat.
Times seemed pretty shat tho, 15s with sub-100mph terminals were best i saw
