Finger prints and photos's are only taken if you get arrested, may be worth contacting the police and asking who the officer was who reported the original crime as they may have got a description of the driver.
I got stopped in bedford a few years ago on my birthday night. The guy pulled me over because I had a wrong bulb fitted by accident and it had left the center brake light illuminated slightly. The officer took my picture as it turns out the car was out of mot (which I genuinely didn't know about, I thought I had another 3 months on it) so had to sign and he took my picture before I got a producer.
