I have been playing with our make cars since my FRS mk1 a few years back.
I have copied the text from the other forum but my Scooby is basically a homologation built only to order between 11/98 – 03/99. It has LSD at the back, roof flap, quick rack steering (tbc) and short ratio box over the standard Type R
This one needs TLC so I took it on as I have always wanted a Type R Impreza and well, I dont have enough spare cash for another Cosworth
Hi all,
Thought I should document my small but impacting project. Its a version 5 Type R limited which means it has the roof flap, R180 rear LSD, quick rack steering and short ratio gearbox.
The car has lived between the UK and Guernsey for a few years until it was sold to a trader, I took ownership while it was still registered in Guernsey.
I saw this in October checked the car over, realised the trader did not know it was a genuine Limited model and struck a deal there and then
Pics of when I collected it
They had troubles with registering it in the UK mainly down to the MOT as it had an uprated exhaust on it and failing the MOT on emissions - so a stock system was sourced which meant it passed the MOT straight away, the trader then sent wrong docs off to the DVLA a couple of times. All those problems meant I ended up collecting the car in December :lol1: But it was all good, patience is a virtue and I was so chuffed to get the phonecall saying the car is ready to collect so I made the train journey to just outside Southampton to collect it and bring it home. Prior to this the last performance car I owned was about 2/3 years ago which was a bone stock Focus RS mk1. The drive home was frankly scary in the Impreza lol I just took it easy and soaked up the JDM goodness I had wanted for years.
First night at home next to thefamily bus. I jammed the car right in as we know how easy these are to nick without an alarm. Neighbor parked his car and blocked both cars in
I love my mondeo
My plans were simple, put all the wrongs right. The engine and drive train are in great order thankfully. List of things I have planned
Fit a Toad Ai606 mk2
Refresh the coolant as it was rusty water which was done immediatley
Remove the fishpond from the spare wheel well and rear quarter pockets
Valet interior as it stank of damp and the dashboard was what felt like it was wiped with engine oil
Add gauges
Replace the manky cracked lights around the car
REMOVE DECALS!
Buy the foglight covers
Have the outside detailed
Tidy up under bonnet
Address the minor paintwork that needs doing
Mini service
Add stock decal kit
Only mod on the car is an ECUTek map done by Triton Motorsport - I guess this was done for mainly mapping it to UK fuel.
After refreshing the coolant and cleaning out all the water in the boot I wanted to tackle removing all the decals - this took me about 4 weekends, bare in mind it was winter and theres me outside with the hairdryer carefully peeling back the hideous vinyl...
I will update as I go along but happy to say all the graphics are now off but it has revealed some more work...
