The crankcase is different.

They are interchangeable though. If you have the wrong onees, when you press them into the crank case, they will be slightly offset.
I am in need of help here? It appeared I have a 86 crank but a 88 block. Can I use the full 360 degrees oil slot? I believe there is a difference in the 88 cranks ( they have 2 oil holes in the main journals ) therefore you can run with only one bearing groves and the other not as the big end bearings are still getting the same oil. What need to know Is if I can use the full 360 degree shells when I have a 88 block. The shells seem to have a slight step when you install the crank.
