They all came with flared front arches when compare with the basic specification escorts, factory fitted (at Ford AVO South Ockendon build factory) bubble arches could be specified at the new car ordering stage.
All MK1 RS1600 cam with BDA engines, post 1972 with an aluminium cylinder block.
All complete cars delivered from AVO were road cars.
The BDA engine had a different engine code on the VIN tag.
Registration documents can have anything, Escort Saloon, Escort RS, RS Escort, RS6100 it is the chassis number and engine code which will determine if the car is an original RS1600.
I would contact the AVO owners club.
