I would take the wiper motor off and test it.
Make sure you have good contact where the boot lid meets the rear panel cause if i remember rightly the mk3 have these daft electrical connections in the boot lid and rear panel.
How should I test it? It doesn't have a rear wiper it was removed by previous owner, there a relay I should be looking into aswell?
