you wont cook the cylinder head just by a pipe popping off unless you carried on driving It. if so then its your own fault .
I would want to know whats cooked how did they find out whats cooked and the proof please. a20 pipe is much easier fix than 500quid headgasket. are you sure noone is on a fiddle.
it is my fault i drove another 1/4 of a mile before i noticed the temp gauge , but the car runs such a high temp , the garage says it might have the wrong senior in it and it also dint have a thermostat , buts getting a real good overhaul now new bits and pieces fingers crossed it will be sorted soon
