Would it effect the piston rings ?

No it will be approx £150 for gaskets and bolts.
Has it overheated.? Reason i asked is most garages will just skim the head for their own peace of mind when in fact most do not need doing. Hence why most cossies are running more compression. Only have the head skimmed if its warpped out of spec.
