After totting things up it seems the costs are well over £1.4k whichever setup I go with, albeit with the parts all being new. Suddenly the Cosworth route looks appealing but dealing with old ECUs and other peoples bodges is never fun.

My question is what other choices have I missed out and could less fancy ECUs do what I want? I guess the simple option would be to tone things down a little but where is the fun in that?
I'd scratch Cosworth management off that list if I were you, old stuff best left to Cosworth cars. There was a thread recently which stated the fitting kit and sensors alone (from a reputable tuner) were £1,500+ without an ECU and loom, defo not cheaper.

If you can get them for the money you've totted up Omex or emerald would be good choices. If you're budget conscious, why not try a Boost Monkeys Gen8 ECU? It'll do everything you want and more, integrate with your current sensors plus the piece of mind that a new engine loom brings.
