If my memory serves me correctly I think you're right. They have a flat bottom as opposed to a point, but they aren't machine screws so a small self-tapper should suffice.

Yeah I had small pointed self taper screws in it before but the cowling never fitted correctly and I've changed the ally housing behind the steering wheel so wanted to have it put back correctly
