So if you passed your test after 19th Jan 2013 your limited to a 3500kg trailer behind a suitable 3500kg vehicle.

Before that date your trailer can be heavier. (which is unlikely anyway)

Its been debated thousands of times on various forums, it has also been proven that the direct.gov website is misleading.
