I've been into cars all my life and sadly the only car I've ever really wanted to own enthusiastically is a sapph cos rwd, it's been sat 5 years doing nothing with only a few things to finish it but they will easily amount to over 4K, then the live map and any issues etc etc but with the young kids and work I just don't have the time, energy and money but I'm still aiming for summer next year.
Defo worth it as it's something I enjoy and an escape from the day to day shit.
My daily is a discovery 3 and an Astra sxi, both good cars but I have no interest in them other than reliability and keeping them clean and serviced.
Cars are only worth it if you are enthusiastic about them or a specific car you are able to afford to own and maintain, if your not bothered or have lost interest sell em and jump on the bus, won't be long till your back.
