They pinned the block - quite common to stop cracking liners & or block and add strength. -theres actually better ways than just the pins. like a deck lid conversion to make a 'closed deck' block.
Was still and impressive power hike an looked like driving the buggy would be balls out fun.
Quite a big thing in the Subaru world block pinning ect, there's a company down south that actually coverts the open deck block to a closed deck block but dunno how good it is. Old smokey yb ain't all bad after all lol
