I have a 1997 Ford Escort 1.8 convertible,
The Tracking adjustment on the near side has seized solid,
I have tried to free the nut but not happening,
So i bought new Track Rods and Rods ends for both sides,
but on removing the dust boot on the steering rack end (power rack)
I found a smooth end cap with no ridges or fittings to attach a tool,
very strange as the new ones have got spanner ridges

Question is please

How the heck do i get the old rods off so i can fit the new ones and sort my tracking out?
