On the mounting of the ECU, as Rob says, fit it inside behind the gear stick centre console. I have the OEM XR3i EFi ECU mount behind there and there's even a carpet piece to go over the top. This is another plus point of the XR3i EFi loom, the ECU wires are designed to fit there anyway!
For the diodes, I just soldered the tails together and piggy backed them at the EDIS end. Then I used an offcut of the green rev counter wire with the correct bullet connector from my MFi loom to plug it in at the OEM location.
