I would say you budget is too low to get a decent one now.
Most for sale at that price are cat d or piles of shit.
Even ones for 8k can be shit.
I sold mine this year which was a fairly standard car with 54k miles on it. Full service etc.
I had the car fully resprayed so was very tidy. I sold it for 8.7 k.
The guy that bought it said it was the best one he had seen and he looked at 7 of them all of which were advertised for more money.
People seem to think there shitters are worth the same as a nice example.
I really think you will struggle with your budget to get something decent.
They are a great car to own and drive.
