I've done the same recently and personally I didn't want to throw any money at an old ecu that had limited options so I went with the boostmonkey ECU and had Karl fit it,
I used Astra VXR injectors -£75
Boost monkey OFAM ecu -£400
MSD updated in tank pump (as my car was xr3i efi) -£75
Then came the problems as everyone says the looms are old and problematic Karl had fit the ecu and pump rewire the pump Rewire and replace the CPS and a few other bits this was about so diagnostics alone were £250 but I went to him As a non runner
And it still needs mapping again another £250ish
But ultimately it's a new ecu that can run any sensor not old expensive rocking horse shit ford stuff and has a shit ton or features you don't get with OFAC/OFAB
If I did it again I think I'd be inclined to go with the GEN 8 and as it comes with a new loom, so takes the old ford stuff out of the equation
What basic mods do you have at the moment?
Inter cooler?
-31?
Bleed valve?
