On Thursday morning I was on my way to work, and on approaching a junction I slowed and was rear ended by another car. I hadn't fully stopped and estimated the other drivers speed at around 10-15 mph, so despite it being an almighty thump the damage seems to be minimal.
When I got to work I put the car on the ramps and took a quick look underneath and it didn't seem to bad, I think although the end of the exhaust looks fine, one of the stays has gone ? as it's pretty wobbly.
The bumper has a few scratches and a couple indentations, and the mountings underneath are broken. I also suspect the crash bar behind it has been bent. But I wondered if the bit behind the bumper, the rear of the shell looks o.k.
The pictures aren't the best, and the floor looks fine, it's just where the spare wheel sits it looks a little pinched, but that could be by design to help it stay in it's hole.
Could any Mk1 owners take a quick look at theirs, as I'm not at work, and don't think we actually have any mk1's to compare it to.
Much appreciated.
Oh the other driver admitted liability and gave me his details etc with no issues, his insurance company contacted me within 24hrs to say it was all straight forward as their policy holder admitted fault.
I've also noticed that I can now push the bumper in pretty easily, but understand the actually metal bumper behind is a bolt on item ?
