I think the reason was the design of the pressure plate.
The diaphragm springs on the helix are half the length and actually have a second shorter set underneath. It had an awful lump when the clutch would engage. Driving was alright, but trying to pull away with any dignity was a real effort.
I agree with Chopshop I wouldn't buy a helix paddle again.
