It won't be that mate, the MK5 pedal allows more travel when you depress it for proper disengagement of AP clutches.
As yours is slipping it is either not engaged properly, contaminated with say oil, broken, or it's a cheapo ebay clutch that can't handle the torque of a hamster wheel?! lol
