You *can* solder to the conductive paint on glass, but you have to be very careful, as it's very easy to blow it up. I don't think it'd be wise doing it to an old car if it's the original glass.

I have used conductive glue before, for exactly this problem (heater terminal on a Golf) but it's a bit hit and miss really.
