Was under the notion that the cam and lifters had to be run in together?
I had a lifter spring fail and ruined a lovely fresh engine, after rebuilding it I had a new Piper cam and lifters fitted. One of the lifters hadn't been hardened and ruined the cam before it had even left the garage
Quality control seems sadly lacking on the cam/lifters front these days.
