Take a look at the DC5. I had one 7 years ago and replaced it with a St for 6 years now back to a DC5.
The DC5 is either all out attack mode and it's very fast for so little hp/tq or drive it like a granny and gives very good mpg.
The St would tear it's tyres apart at any time with so much tq so a really good car for all round use as long as you don't mind the bad mpg.
