Does anyone remember the reason they changed the log books to the new red ones? It was because thousands were stolen from the printers and dodgy people were using them to sell stolen cars. There was adverts everywhere warning people not to purchase a car with the old style logbook from a certain date. The car could be in someone else's name and u buy it and then the original owner wants the car back. He could be pulling a scam that his mates got the red log book in his name and he'll sell it to u with the blue log book and then a month later his mate will report "his" car missing and you'll end up with no car and no money. Trust me I know a few dodgy people who carry out this scam on a regular basis (there not friends just people I know through motor trade) and they make a fortune at it. I bet when the shit hits the fan the phone call u made to dvla won't mean anything. Just trying to help. They also list the cars really cheap to draw people in. Did he put about the logbook in the ad? I bet not. I have a mate at work who lost £6500 on a mini convertible through this scam
