Bought mine with this problem It's the arm on the front of the gearbox needing taken off and grease put on the pin that goes through it or drilled out in some cases.

Your best replacing the plastic square on the selector as it's only £5 from ford and wears out, we used to replace these a couple of times a year in the race cars
