If they do then either the 5w-40 is damned good or the 20w-50 is very poor.

The figures should be compared within the same viscosity i.e. look again above at the 3 15w-50's I've listed they're all about the same.

The thicker the oil, the higher the number should be for example a 10w-60 should be higher than a 5w-40 all things being equal. By this I mean same basestocks in them - However as explained on many occassions, all things are not equal as there are synthetics and synthetics!
