Default Headlight Bulb replacement Mk2 escort

I noticed last night that my main beam was not working on my LHS headlight (I have a 1976 1300 Escort engine and running gear in a kit car), I checked initially the fuses and wiring to make sure all was ok, which it was, so I decided to change the bulb. BUT I couldn't see at first glance how to do this, as the wiring seems to go in through the rear of the round headlight and I cant see how to actually replace the bulb. It was dark and I had limited light (phone) but I couldn't see any clips. Do you have to remove the whole of the rear conical back of the light? Any pointers would be great.
cheers
