It's not just the insurance companys to watch out for. The RAC, AA and the rest of the breakdown companys will no longer recover a car that looks like a track car. No matter where it is.

We had a problem with ours when collecting it from a sponsors last year and couldn't get it started. (A wire was shorting out on a bracket). Anyway we called the RAC and when they turned up the guy said he would try to get it started but if it needs to be recovered we would have to pay for it, over £100 to take it 5 miles. We were in the middle of a city centre at the sponsors with his hame on the car and 50 miles from the nearest track.
