You can tune them but they tend to blow the head gasket once you turn the boost up and you try getting parts for them! Parts and head gaskets aren't as easy to come by as Cosworths
The exhaust is very restrictive as standard so changing that gives good gains but you can't de-cat them because they smoke heavily on idle due to the lack of back pressure. They are best left alone.
