Default Thermostat problem - please help!

Hi everyone,

Hoping some of you can chuck some ideas to me. My car appears to be eating thermostats like its fuel!

Bought a new one from Ford, then another, and now a 3rd one (this time from Euros) and each one has done exactly the same thing. Solved the prob once put in and bled the air - car would run from 88-90 degrees. Perfect. Until about 50 miles happens and then for whatever reason car drops in temps and struggles to keep 70-75 degrees.

I did check one of the Ford ones in the saucepan with a decent digital thermometer and found it opens at roughly the right temperature but then stays slightly open down to 70 degrees.

Car is a Puma. Engine is MK1 FRS. It runs an aluminium escos radiator. Omex management - I'm monitoring temps with laptop as I drive at the moment.

I don't understand why they work for a bit and then die?!

Any help appreciated.

Ben
