Hello,

I'm working on a Xr3i engine from an Escort Convertible.
I bought the car for the engine i will fit in my Fiesta. There where a few loose connections and we got the engine running again.

But the fuel pump relais is broken. (we put 12V direct on the pump)

What is the funktion of the relais, and not to put power on the pump , but is there something else?
In the relais are electronics, which are not in normal relais?

Does the pump work all the time when the contact is on?

Is it possible to use a normal relais in stead of the pink/purple one?
Or a switch?
