If you were not confident on doing certain jobs (drilling the block or welding etc) then you could always just drop into a local garage or engineering firm and ask them to do it as a little side job.
When i said pistons and rods it was in reply to him building a zetec turbo not budget zt! Also £400 for engine is rather steap, head £75 st170 block complete £150
